How to write a text to image prompt
The most reliable prompts read like a short brief for a photographer or illustrator. Name what matters most first, then add detail in order of importance.
A useful pattern is subject, action, setting, style, lighting and composition. For example: “A red fox curled up asleep in fresh snow, early morning, soft blue light, close-up, shallow depth of field.”
- Subject: who or what the image is about
- Setting: where and when it happens
- Style: photo, watercolor, 3D render, flat illustration
- Light and color: golden hour, neon, pastel, high contrast
- Composition: close-up, wide shot, top-down, centered
- Text: the exact words, in quotation marks
