Anatomy of a good Nano Banana prompt

Nano Banana responds best to clear, concrete descriptions written in full sentences. Lists of keywords work, but a short, specific description of the result works better.

  • Lead with the subject and the action
  • Add the setting, time of day and mood
  • Name the style or medium, such as 35mm film or watercolor
  • Describe light and composition
  • Quote any exact text
  • For edits, end with what must stay the same

Editing prompts vs generation prompts

Generation prompts describe a whole new image. Editing prompts describe only the change to an uploaded photo, so they can be short: “Make it a snowy winter morning.” Adding “keep the face and pose unchanged” protects the parts you care about.

With several uploads, number them in the prompt. Nano Banana reads the images in the order you added them.

Nano Banana prompt FAQ

What are the best Nano Banana prompts?

The most reliable prompts describe one clear result: the subject, setting, light and style, plus what must stay unchanged in an edit. The 30 prompts on this page follow that pattern and are a good starting point.

Do these prompts work with Nano Banana Pro?

Yes. Every prompt works with both models. Use Nano Banana Pro for the poster, infographic and book cover prompts, where precise text matters most.

How long should a Nano Banana prompt be?

One to three sentences is usually enough. Longer prompts are fine when every detail matters, but put the most important details first.

Why does my edit change the person's face?

Add “keep the face exactly the same” to the prompt and use a sharp, well-lit photo. If it still drifts, try Nano Banana Pro, which keeps details more faithfully.

Can I write prompts in languages other than English?

Yes. Nano Banana understands many languages, though English prompts tend to give the most predictable results for complex scenes.
